Microsoft unveils the two newest additions to the Surface family (and more...)

After announcing the new name of the Office 365 subscription, now Microsoft 365, Microsoft surprised its loyal customers with the new Surface Go 2 and Book 3 models.

The first novelty at Microsoft is certainly the new Surface Go 2 model, the innovative version of the 2-in-1 tablet, which can become a super-performing notebook in a few simple moves. The Surface Go 2 improves on the summer 2018 version in terms of hardware and functionality, without particularly changing the aesthetics. The full HD screen goes from 10 to 10.5 inches, still a PixelSense type, reducing the bezels and expanding the screen to the maximum. The processor is an eighth-generation Intel Core m3-8100Y with 8 Gb ram and 128 Gb of internal memory which accelerates performance by 64% compared to the first Surface Go. As for the web connection, we rely on the Wi-Fi 6 module, while for the cameras, Surface is equipped with 5-megapixel devices on the front and 8-megapixel on the back.

There are also numerous accessories that enhance the Surface experience. First and foremost, there is the Surface Pen, which allows you to use the touchscreen in the round. You can also customise your Surface Go with Type Cover and accessories in different colours (Anthracite Grey, Black, Poppy Red and Ice Blue).

The other innovations offered by the American giant concern the Surface Book 3. The most powerful laptop in the Surface family gains, according to Microsoft, up to 50 per cent more performance than the previous model, and battery life increases to 17.5 hours. Available in either 13-inch or 15-inch sizes, Microsoft’s portable workstation can be configured in a variety of ways with an eye on gaming or creativity. The 15-inch version can be configured with either an NVIDIA GeForce discrete GPU, which Microsoft promises will deliver top quality gaming at 1080p and 60 Hz, or an NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000 for content creators. The company says Surface Book 3 was designed with designers, engineers, developers and gamers in mind. That’s why configurations can now go up to 32GB of RAM and up to 2TB PCie NVMe SSDs.

In addition, Microsoft announced some new audio accessories. The Surface Headphones 2 over-ear headphones have been redesigned. Their main function is active noise cancellation, guaranteed by a battery that lasts up to 20 hours.
And that’s not all: the Surface Earbuds round out the range of audio accessories. With touch controls, Omnisonic audio, a day’s worth of battery life and a wireless charging case, the Earbuds are Microsoft’s answer to the AirPods. They offer something extra: these in-ear models with touch controls also integrate with Microsoft 365, acting as a controller and are compatible with the various assistants Cortana, Siri and Assistant.
